Poás Volcano is an active stratovolcano. The crater of the volcano is over a mile wide and 1050 feet deep. It has erupted 40 times since 1828, including April 2017, and remains active today.
At the Volcano we will have time to enjoy the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles. Sometimes it is not possible to see the crater due to a lot of fog but with or without a good view it is a special experience to visite an active volcano and not everybody can say he did that in his live.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the extreme risk that the Poas Volcano represents as it is an active volcano, we can only be in the park for a period of 40 minutes: 10 minutes walking on the walk to reach the crater point of view, 20 minutes at the point view of the crater and a 10 minute walk back. There is no access to Botos Lagoon.
